MetaMask Unveils $30 Million Rewards Program

MetaMask Unveils $30 Million Rewards Program

In the coming weeks, ConsenSys-owned Web3 wallet MetaMask will launch an on-chain rewards program. The project team announced this on platform X.

Rewards for Loyal Users

MetaMask described its initiative as “one of the largest on-chain rewards programs in history,” promising to distribute over $30 million in LINEA tokens during the first “season.” Referral bonuses, incentives in the form of stablecoin mUSD, and exclusive partner rewards are also anticipated.

The team emphasized that long-time wallet users will receive special privileges. Rewards will also be linked to the MetaMask token (MASK), which ConsenSys head Joseph Lubin announced in mid-September.

What are Linea and mUSD?

Linea is a layer-two network for Ethereum by ConsenSys, designed to increase transaction speed and reduce costs. It is integrated with the MetaMask ecosystem and supports scalable applications. In September, the project conducted a large-scale airdrop of LINEA to attract users and developers.

Additionally, MetaMask recently launched the stablecoin mUSD, issued by the Bridge platform. The token is available on the Ethereum and Linea networks.

Community Reaction and Questions

MetaMask asserts that the rewards program is not a “yield farming” scheme but a means of “regular community support.”

The announcement received mixed reactions. Some users on X, such as crypto streamer Gainzy, expressed doubts about the initiative’s reception.

Earlier in September, amid a decline in LINEA’s price, Lubin promised rewards to token holders.
