
Mexican billionaire posts Bitcoin hashtag on Twitter
Ricardo Salinas Pliego, one of Mexico’s wealthiest people and founder of the Grupo Salinas conglomerate, added the Bitcoin hashtag to the description of his Twitter account.

The billionaire joined the ranks of wealthy supporters of the first cryptocurrency, among them MicroStrategy chief Michael Saylor and SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci.
In January, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk posted on Twitter Bitcoin hashtag, after which the asset rose to $38,000.
In a Cointelegraph interview, Salinas Pliego said he first bought digital gold in 2013. He sold the asset for $17,000 during the 2017 bull run and called Bitcoin “the best investment of all time.”
According to Forbes, Salinas Pliego ranks second among Mexico’s billionaires and 106th in the world. The publication valued his wealth at $11.7 billion.
By January 2021, the entrepreneur’s wealth had reached $13.3 billion, Infobae reports.
Earlier, in November 2020, Salinas Pliego invested 10% of his portfolio in bitcoin.
