Microsoft integrates the ‘new Bing’ into Windows 11

Developers integrated a new version of Bing into the taskbar search. Access to the chat is now possible without opening a browser.

\”Soon hundreds of millions of Windows 11 users will gain access to this incredible new technology for searching, chatting, answering questions and creating content directly on the Windows taskbar,\” the announcement said.

Bing chat on the taskbar is available to testers who gained access to the search from the waitlist.

The developers also simplified access to the Windows Studio Effects audio and video effects suite from the taskbar. The tool includes features such as eye contact, background blur, automatic framing and voice focus for the built-in camera and microphone.

The filters use AI algorithms and improve the quality of video and audio calls, the company said.

Windows Studio Effects is available on devices equipped with a dedicated neural processor.

In addition, developers introduced a number of other features and improvements:

• synchronisation of notifications and messages with iOS devices via the Phone Link app;
• improved content recommendations in the Start menu;
• updated \”Remote Help\” app for connecting to other computers over the internet;
• improved gestures for touch screens;
• new apps on the widgets panel;
• screen video capture;
• support for tabs in the Notepad app;
• new accessibility features;
• energy-saving recommendations;
• new Windows 365 app for accessing cloud PCs.

The update is already rolling out in waves to PCs running Windows 11 22H2. Microsoft has promised that all users will receive Moment 2 by March 14, 2023.

As reported in February, Microsoft presented the AI-powered Bing based on ChatGPT. On the same day, the service was opened to a limited number of testers.

A few days later, users reported strange behavior of Bing. The developers explained that the model can get confused in sessions with 15 or more messages.

On 17 February, Microsoft introduced restrictions on the number of queries to Bing.
