Microsoft to add ChatGPT to the Azure OpenAI cloud service

Microsoft released the Azure OpenAI cloud service to general availability. The service debuted for a limited number of enterprise customers in November 2021.

According to the announcement, users can employ various OpenAI tools for their own cloud applications, including the image generator DALL-E and the GPT-3.5 language model.

Microsoft also said that ChatGPT access would be opened soon.

Azure OpenAI is available to users in the United States and Western Europe. There is no word on availability in other regions.

Earlier reports described plans for Microsoft to add ChatGPT to Office applications and the Bing search engine.

The partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI began in 2019. The tech giant invested in the startup $1 bn.

In 2020, the companies agreed on exclusive licensing of GPT-3. The collaboration led to the creation of an AI coding assistant for writing code GitHub Copilot.

In January 2023, reports said that Microsoft planned to invest $10 billion in OpenAI with a subsequent 49% stake purchase.

In December 2022, the AI startup said it expected revenue to reach $1 billion in the next two years.
