MicroStrategy adds 301 BTC for $6 million
The analytics software provider MicroStrategy has purchased an additional 301 BTC for $6 million. This is disclosed in the report filed with the SEC.
Founder and former CEO Michael Saylor said the purchases were made between August 2 and September 19 at an average price of $19,851 per BTC.
The previous investment by MicroStrategy in the first cryptocurrency occurred in June — the firm acquired 480 BTC for about $10 million.
MicroStrategy and its subsidiaries currently own roughly 130,000 BTC worth about $3.98 billion.
As of writing, Bitcoin is trading around $19,070, according to CoinGecko.
As reported in August 2022, Michael Saylor left the position of chief executive officer of MicroStrategy to focus on “innovation and the company’s long-term strategy,” which implies further purchases and holding of bitcoin.
On September 9, the company announced plans to sell up to $500 million worth of shares. The proceeds could be used to buy bitcoin.
