Russian authorities will steer the development of cryptocurrencies onto a civilised path to protect holders’ rights and hinder the creation of shadow schemes. This was said by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the opening of the cabinet meeting.

He described cryptocurrencies as ‘a relatively new instrument, the interest in which is constantly growing’.

The Prime Minister also said that one of the near-term decisions the cabinet will discuss will concern the regulation of digital assets:
\n
“We will introduce a number of changes to the Tax Code. Digital financial assets will be recognised as property; their holders will be entitled to legal protection in the event of any unlawful actions, as well as to defend their property rights in court.”

Earlier Mishustin said, that cryptocurrencies and stablecoins threaten the stability of the existing financial system.
