Mobile game developer Aeria Canada Studio announced its transition to Web3

Aeria Canada Studio announced a partnership with Ready Games to migrate its most popular games to Web3. The Block reports.

The company’s products will be redesigned to integrate NFTs and to complement the infrastructure elements of the next-generation internet.

The changes will primarily affect the game Rescue Robots: Sniper Survival, downloaded more than 5 million times from Google’s Play Store.

According to Ready Games representatives, the new initiative will create a secondary market for trading in-game assets.

Some major gaming companies have expressed skepticism toward Web3, including regarding the use of NFTs in games. For example, the Minecraft studio Mojang Studios excluded NFT integration. Valve Corporation banned hosting blockchain games on Steam. Developers Rockstar Games recently opposed the introduction of NFTs and other digital assets on third-party servers of their Grand Theft Auto series.

Countering the skeptics, Ready Games CEO David Bennaum believes that some aspects of the next-generation internet may seem «very interesting» to Web2 gamers.

«First and foremost, they [users] become full owners of the asset they acquire, backed by an on-chain contract», the executive explained.

Also, he says, digital objects can migrate from one game to another. This increases the value of assets.

Ready Games’ integration with Web3 began relatively recently — at the start of this year. In May, the project raised $3m following a token sale.

Earlier, Fenix Games closed a funding round of $150m to acquire, financially support and distribute blockchain games.
