MoonPay buys CryptoPunk NFT for 900 ETH

MoonPay, a provider of crypto-payment infrastructure, acquired NFT CryptoPunk #2681 for 900 ETH (about $2.9 million at the time of the deal).

The token is a pixelated image of a zombie punk in a purple cap with red-blue eyes.

The moonpay.eth account on the OpenSea marketplace holds 16 NFTs, most of which are non-fungible tokens from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.

In November 2021, MoonPay raised $555 million. Following the Series A round, the startup’s valuation reached $3.4 billion.

In December, MoonPay launched a concierge service to help celebrities and wealthy clients buy NFT and digital currencies.
