MoonPay launches NFT concierge service for celebrities

The crypto-payment infrastructure provider MoonPay has launched a concierge service to help celebrities and high-net-worth clients purchase NFT and digital currencies.

The beta service has already been used by television host Jimmy Fallon and rapper Post Malone.

On November 12, Fallon posted a Twitter image of an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection with the caption: “Permission to come a bored?”.

A MoonPay spokesperson confirmed to The Block that the television host is among the early clients of their concierge service, but there are no commercial ties between them.

According to Etherscan, Bored Ape #599 was purchased by MoonPay for 46.6 ETH (about $196,000), and was subsequently transferred, presumably to Fallon’s address.

Also in the last month the startup sent four transactions totaling 325.1 ETH ($1.37 million) to a wallet controlled by Post Malone. A MoonPay spokesperson confirmed that the rapper used the concierge service to purchase cryptocurrency, as well as NFTs.

Based on the company’s OpenSea transactions, it appears that rapper Lil Baby bought through the service the token Bored Ape #129. He later used it as his Twitter avatar.

Earlier this week MoonPay closed a Series A round amounting to $555 million. It was led by Tiger Global Management and Coatue. The company’s valuation stood at $3.4 billion.
