MSI unveils its own Nvidia mining GPUs

MSI introduced the CMP 30HX Miner and CMP 30HX Miner XS graphics processors.

Both GPUs borrow cooling systems from gaming models. The CMP 30HX Miner copies the Armor series, and the CMP 30HX Miner XS is a twin of the Ventus XS series.

The cooling systems of the new models include aluminium radiators, one copper heat pipe each, and two TORX fans on dual-ball-bearing units.

Both graphics cards are based on Nvidia Turing TU116-100 GPU, which comprises 1,408 CUDA cores. Base clock is 1,530 MHz. In Boost mode it rises to 1,785 MHz.

Both GPUs have 6 GB of GDDR6 memory. For additional power each model uses one 8-pin connector. The stated power consumption is 125 W.

As with the CMP 30HX models previously released by Palit, Gigabyte and ASUS, MSI’s GPUs lack external video interfaces, as they are mining-focused.

The hash rate for Ethereum mining on CMP 30HX Miner and CMP 30HX Miner XS is 26 MH/s.

The manufacturer did not disclose prices for the new products.

As reported, Nvidia released the CMP line of chips (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor) to meet demand for graphics processing units from miners.

The first photos of the CMP 30HX junior model from Gigabyte were published in March. Its hash rate for Ethereum mining is 26 MH/s.

The second-highest-performing chip, the CMP 40HX from ASUS, demonstrated strong results during internal testing. The maximum hash rate of a single device for Ethereum mining reached 43.77 MH/s, surpassing the manufacturer’s stated 36 MH/s.
