Near Rostov, customs officers discovered 10 undeclared Bitcoin miners

Inspectors at the Matveyev Kurgan border post did not allow undeclared cryptocurrency-mining devices to cross the border. The department’s press service reports.

A vehicle driven by a Ukrainian national arrived at the checkpoint from the Russian side. During the inspection, customs officers found 10 ASIC miners in the trunk and on the rear seat of the car.

The driver said he bought the devices from a private entrepreneur in Moscow for personal use.

An administrative offence case has been opened against the driver.

As reported in May, Turkish customs confiscated 501 ASIC miners with a total value of 5 million Turkish lira ($600,000). At the time, the seized batch of equipment was a record for the country.
