A resident of the Losino-Petrovsky urban district in the Moscow region lost 14,715,000 rubles in an attempt to buy bitcoin, according to the Moscow News Agency, citing a source in law enforcement.

The victim arranged to buy cryptocurrency in Moscow during a phone call with an unknown party. The meeting was scheduled at one of the capital’s business centers.

According to the source, during the deal the victim “briefly left the negotiating room and, upon returning, found that the participants on the seller’s side had left the premises through another entrance,” taking his money.

Earlier, scammers lured 154,000 rubles when the latter sought to invest in cryptocurrencies.
