
Neuberger Berman Commodity Fund to Invest Up to 5% of Assets in Bitcoin
The commodity fund managed by Neuberger Berman вложит up to 5% of its assets in Bitcoin futures and Bitcoin-based ETF.
According to a document filed with the SEC, Neuberger Berman Commodity Strategy Fund may invest in futures contracts traded on commodity exchanges registered with the CFTC. Currently, such instruments are listed on the sole venue — the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
The fund will also invest in Canadian bitcoin ETFs. Neuberger Berman emphasized that exchange-traded funds carry "many of the same risks" as direct investments in digital gold.
The company regards cryptocurrencies as a developing class of speculative assets. Its specialists believe that forthcoming regulation could substantially affect the value of these instruments.
Earlier, Neuberger Berman told the SEC that will manage assets based on Bitcoin and Ethereum, including futures, trust shares, and ETFs. The new attachment to the Form D notice excludes the second-largest cryptocurrency from the company\’s interests.
Total assets under management exceed $400 billion. The Neuberger Berman Commodity Strategy Fund is valued at $164 million.
