Nouriel Roubini Forecasts a Total Shift to Central Bank Digital Currencies

Renowned economist and Bitcoin critic Nouriel Roubini has said that Bitcoin will not become a true currency, and he predicted a mass shift by states toward settlements in CBDC. This сообщает «Kommersant».

«Bitcoin today is not a currency, and I do not consider it a reliable store of value, as do all other similar cryptocurrencies that have not become a true currency and are unlikely to become one», – he noted.

At the same time, Roubini is convinced that, over time, global central banks will deploy their own digital currencies.

«We will move away from cash more and more and eventually switch to our digital money. This is already happening in Sweden, in China, where you can pay everything by QR code», – added the economist.

Earlier in February, Nouriel Roubini suggested that Bitcoin can be viewed as a store of value «partially» due to its tightly limited issuance.
