At its core, the CMP 170HX is a GA100 graphics processor based on the Ampere architecture, equipped with 4,480 CUDA cores and 8 GB of HBM2e memory with a 4096-bit memory interface. The adapter delivers up to 164 MH/s for Ethereum mining.

The mining processor ships with a locked vBIOS, which means it cannot be overclocked or modified by software. It also cannot be used as a regular graphics card, as it lacks a display-output connector.

The CMP 170HX consumes 250 W, which is lower than the flagship GeForce RTX 3090.

The price of the adapter is $4,300. Previously, the device could only be bought at auction for more than $5,200.

To meet demand from miners, Nvidia released a line of five CMP chips (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor). The performance of the youngest model in the series for Ethereum mining is 26 MH/s.

In September, the senior CMP 170HX also successfully passed testing in Ethereum, Raven and Conflux mining.
