OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT Search for Improved Shopping Experience

OpenAI has introduced several modifications to its ChatGPT Search to make online shopping more convenient and faster.

The updates include:

• Shopping — enhanced product search results, visual information on products, pricing, and reviews, with added direct purchase links;
• Quotations — ChatGPT can now include multiple quotes for a specific answer, allowing users to learn more and verify information from various sources;
• Trends and autocomplete — the ability to speed up searches using popular queries and suggestions;
• Search in WhatsApp — users can send a message to 1-800-ChatGPT (+1-800-242-8478) to receive current answers and sports results.

ChatGPT Search has become one of the company’s most popular products, with over a billion uses in the past week alone.

Addressing Vulnerabilities

OpenAI has also fixed a vulnerability in ChatGPT that allowed the generation of erotic content for accounts belonging to minors. 

“Protecting young users is a top priority, and our Model Spec, which defines model behavior, clearly restricts sensitive content like erotica to narrow contexts such as scientific, historical, or news reporting. In this case, the bug allowed responses beyond these guidelines, and we are actively implementing a fix to limit this,” commented a company representative. 

Earlier in April, media outlets reported that chatbots voiced by celebrities from Meta could engage in overtly sexualized conversations with minors.
