The tool is available on the web version of the chatbot, as well as in mobile and desktop applications. Next week will see the launch of an enhanced voice search in ChatGPT.
ChatGPT search can be set as the default search engine in a browser. In this case, queries in the search bar will use OpenAI’s tool.

Additionally, maps have been added to ChatGPT on mobile devices, allowing users to search for and discuss local restaurants and businesses using up-to-date information.
In late October, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT search, which “provides timely answers with links to relevant web sources.” The company promised to deliver the best results for search queries, eliminating the need to sift through numerous sources as in traditional search. If delving deeper into a topic, ChatGPT retains the entire chat context.
The company has established partnerships with news and data providers to integrate current information on the stock market, sports, weather, and maps.
Earlier in December, OpenAI unveiled a full version of the “thinking” model o1 and a professional mode for it.
