OpenSea daily sales double as interest in Bored Ape Yacht Club surges

On November 14, the daily sales volume on the OpenSea platform reached $117.8 million, the highest in five weeks. One of the drivers was the tenfold growth in sales of the NFT-collection of Bored Ape Yacht Club.

According to CryptoSlam, on November 14 traders completed deals with NFTs depicting “Bored Apes” for $17.45 million, the day before — $23.06 million, two days earlier – $12.41 million. In September-October the figure rarely exceeded $5 million.

Interest has also grown in the Mutant Ape Yacht Club’s Mutant Apes NFTs. On November 14 the sales volume of tokens totaled $20.49 million, November 13 — $18.35 million. Since mid-September the figure has hovered in the $1-2 million range, three times surpassing the $3 million threshold.

On November 11, Universal Music Group, the record label, announced the creation of a Gorillaz-inspired metaverse called Kingship. The avatars for the group are based on NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club belonging to collector Jimmy “j1mmy” McNelis.

On November 12, hip-hop producer Timbaland also announced plans to create a metaverse of avatars based on “Bored Apes.” For the project he created Ape-In Productions, which will handle the production of music and animation. On November 17 the company will release its first NFT single.

On November 13 it emerged that the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s creators, Yuga Labs, filed a US trademark application for the monkey logo for use in cryptocurrency, online games, online platforms and the development of blockchain software.

Yuga Labs announced the launch of its own token for the Bored Ape Yacht Club project in the first quarter of 2022.

In September, a set of 107 NFTs from this collection went under the hammer of Sotheby’s for $24.4 million.
