Optimism developers unveil Drippie, a programmable system for automating Ethereum transactions

The Optimism team has developed Drippie, a programmable system for automating Ethereum transactions that executes operations in response to certain conditions.

“Drippie is, essentially, Ethereum-native version of If This Then That (IFTTT), a programmable Web2 service that can combine various triggers with actions,” the statement said.

According to the developers, the mechanism is capable of performing most of the typical transactions necessary for the functioning of Optimism. This includes, for example, maintaining balances across accounts to move funds between L1 and L2.

Drippie runs on top of Gelato automation protocol. The system funds the account needed to pay for transactions.

The mechanism not only simplifies Optimism’s interactions with the main Ethereum network and other chains but also enhances security, the developers noted. Drippie enables maintaining the minimal necessary balance in operational hot wallets, reducing the potential damage in case of their compromise.

As backup automation channels, the team plans to integrate similar solutions in addition to Gelato — Chainlink Keepers and OpenZeppelin Defender AutoTasks.

Drippie is open-source under the лицензии MIT.

In December, Optimism opened access to the network to all developers, dropping the whitelist concept.
