Parent company of OnlyFans invested $19.9 million in Ethereum

The parent company of the OnlyFans content-subscription service — Fenix International — during 2021–2022 инвестировала $19,9 млн in the second-largest cryptocurrency.

As of the end of November last year the firm reported an unrealised loss on the position of $8.46 million. At that time Ethereum had fallen to $1,217, reducing the initial investment to $11.43 million.

“There are no restrictions on the Group’s ability to sell cryptocurrency assets,” the document states.

OnlyFans launched in 2016. In 2022 the number of content creators rose by 47% to 2.16 million; the number of subscribers rose by 27% to 188 million.

Revenue rose from $4.8 billion to $5.6 billion; pre-tax profit rose from $433 million to $525 million.

In February 2023 OnlyFansadded support for NFTs. Users gained the ability to set non-fungible tokens as profile avatars.

Later, two former OnlyFans executives Tim Stokely and RJ Phillips announced the creation of the Zoop platform for trading celebrity NFT cards.

Earlier, on August 21, daily transaction fees in the Web3-social network Friend.Tech выросли до $1,4 млн, taking third place after Ethereum and Lido.
