Pelé to release NFT trading-card collection

The legendary Brazilian footballer Pelé will release a non-fungible token (NFT) on the Ethernity Chain platform. The release is scheduled for May 2.

The first digital trading-card collection of Pelé was created by artists Kingsletter and Visual Lab.

\n\n\n\n

«It’s really cool to be immortalised in this way», wrote the footballer.

\n\n\n\n

Founder and chief executive of Ethernity Chain Nick Rose Ntertsas, in a CoinDesk interview, noted that the platform is focused on building the largest library of collectible NFTs in history.

\n\n\n\n

«Pelé is a very important milestone for us. He is the greatest footballer of all time», said the CEO of Ethernity Chain.

\n\n\n\n

The striker Pelé won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He retired in 1977.

\n\n\n\n

In 2000, FIFA named Pelé the best footballer of the 20th century. In 2014, he was awarded the honorary «FIFA Ballon d’Or».

Earlier, mixed martial artist Khabib Nurmagomedov released his own NFT trading cards.

\n\n\n\n

In April 2021, Edward Snowden, a former employee of the NSA and CIA, sold his first NFT for $5.5 million.

Recall that anonymous artist under the pseudonym Murat Pak released a plain gray pixel as an NFT. It went under the hammer for $1.36 million.
