PhotoRoom gains AI-powered background-changing feature
The PhotoRoom photo editor has gained the Magic Studio feature, which uses artificial intelligence to personalise marketing imagery, as reported by The Verge.

Magic Studio is based on the text-to-image generator Stable Diffusion. To use the feature, a user must upload a product photo, describe the item with a single word, and specify the desired background.
The algorithm then automatically removes the background and places the element on a new image. The result is emailed within a few minutes.
Magic Studio cannot be used to photograph people or animals.
According to the developers, the tool is intended for online sellers. Magic Studio enables consumers to quickly create images ready to be placed in a set of custom templates, pre-configured for platforms such as eBay or Shopify.
Users report that uploaded objects sometimes appear distorted or entirely replaced.

The tool also performs poorly on images showing human hands.
The Magic Studio feature is available to PhotoRoom Pro subscribers using the English-language version of the app. It costs $9.49 per month or $46.99 per year.
In October, Shutterstock expanded its partnership with OpenAI to sell stock images generated by the DALL-E 2 model.
