Phuket Court Sentences Russians for Cryptocurrency Kidnapping

The Provincial Court of Phuket has sentenced five Russians to prison for the abduction of a Belarusian couple, aiming to extort 31 million baht (approximately $845,700) in cryptocurrency. This was reported by the Bangkok Post.

The defendants, who initially denied involvement in the attack, fully confessed during the investigation.

Each received a two-year prison sentence and an obligation to return the stolen funds.

As reported in January, the incident occurred on the 29th of that month. The attackers kidnapped the family on their way home and held them until they transferred all their cryptocurrency.
