Playboy to auction archival photographs as NFTs

Playboy, the American men’s magazine, will auction a collection of photographs as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The sale will be held on the Nifty Gateway marketplace.

The first lot will feature works by artist Mike Parisella, created from archival Playboy imagery.

In June 2021, Playboy will launch a joint NFT project with artist Catherine Blake.

«We are excited about the possibilities offered by blockchain. We already have plans to support artists with grants. We are here to learn, help the community and implement innovations together», the Playboy statement says.

Earlier, three provocative TIME covers in NFT format went under the hammer for 241 ETH (about $478,000 at the time of writing).

Earlier, Kevin Roose, a journalist for The New York Times, sold his new NFT column about NFTs as an NFT for 350 ETH (about $695,000 at the time of writing).
