
Police arrest suspects in cryptocurrency owner’s kidnapping, $523,000 stolen
The Kaliningrad region’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case into the kidnapping of a cryptocurrency owner.

According to investigators, on the evening of September 27, two residents of Sovetsk, posing as law enforcement officers, forcibly put a local man into a car. He was taken to the apartment of one of the suspects and, under threats, forced to share passwords to his cryptocurrency wallet and banking apps.

The suspects were remanded in custody and charged.
\n\n
The victim was returned around $70 000 of the stolen funds, the Investigative Committee said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier ForkLog reported, the kidnappers forced the Kaliningrad resident to unlock his iPhone, obtained codes for two-factor authentication on Binance and transferred the funds to their wallets. In total, the attackers stole about $523,000 in USDT.
