Police in Germany shut down one of the largest darknet sites for child pornography

Police in Germany shut down Boystown — one of the largest darknet platforms for distributing child pornography. Four people have been arrested, сообщает the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

The site had existed since June 2019 and boasted 400,000 users. They exchanged among themselves mainly recordings of violent abuse of boys, according to BKA.

During the investigation arrests were carried out in Germany and Paraguay. Police arrested four German nationals aged 40 to 64. According to investigators, three of them were Boystown administrators, the fourth was the most active user, having posted more than 3,500 messages.

Additionally, searches were carried out at seven premises across three German federal states.

Europol and law-enforcement agencies in the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, the United States and Canada participated in the investigation.

In October 2019, US and South Korean authorities closed the largest darknet market for child pornography, through which more than 1 million videos were distributed. Transactions on it were conducted in bitcoins.
