The national digital currency would do more harm than good for the United Kingdom, according to 30% of Britons. The opposite view is held by 24%, according to data from опроса компании Redfield & Wilton Strategies.
The greatest concerns among residents in the event of introducing a sterling digital pound are:
- threat of hacking attacks — 73%;
- privacy violations — 70%;
- the possibility that the state could confiscate assets — 62%;
- negative impact on the environment — 45%.
Meanwhile, 16% of survey participants said they had used cryptocurrencies to pay for goods and services, and 31% of respondents said it was very likely that they would acquire digital assets in the coming year.
Among cryptocurrency holders, the main reason for their purchase was the prospect of profit — 37% said so.
Among those who have never invested in digital currencies, 64% attributed this to a lack of knowledge about them. Almost half of respondents are willing to take free online courses on cryptocurrencies if offered.
40% of survey participants said they would support the government introducing legal norms for digital assets, while 16% were opposed.
Earlier polls showed that for 45% of young Britons cryptocurrencies became their first investment, and 11% of adults in the country are considering purchasing assets in the coming year.
