According to the post, Reddit plans to move the tokens to the Ethereum mainnet in the long term. In the first stage, it concerns the testnet.
“You will notice that transactions happen much faster, and after creating the Vault you will not have to request MOONS/BRICKS tokens monthly. They will simply appear in your vault, as if by magic,” Reddit representatives said.
According to them, the choice of Ethereum Layer-2 solution Arbitrum was driven by its \”full decentralisation\” and security. Reddit also cited backing from the developer community and called Arbitrum \”the most promising scaling technology for Community Points\”.
In 2020 the platform launched its own ERC-20 tokens — MOONS and BRICKS — to reward users of the subreddits r/Cryptocurrency and r/FortNiteBR for high-quality content and community participation.
Around the same time Reddit asked Ethereum developers to help scale the Community Points programme.
Earlier in January 2021, the content platform announced a partnership with the Ethereum Foundation to develop scaling solutions for the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
