Ripple and SEC Agree to Temporary Pause in XRP Case
Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have jointly requested a 60-day pause in their mutual appeals proceedings.
This pause will allow both parties to finalize negotiations to settle the long-standing dispute over the sale of XRP tokens.
According to the document, the parties have reached a “preliminary agreement” that requires final approval from the SEC. Following this, Ripple and the Commission will seek a provisional ruling from the district court.
In December 2020, the regulator accused the company of violating securities laws by selling XRP. The proceedings have become some of the most discussed in the industry.
In August 2024, Judge Analisa Torres issued a final ruling in the case, fining Ripple $125 million.
On March 19, 2025, the SEC withdrew its appeal against Ripple, and a week later, the company dropped its counterclaim.
Earlier this year, the regulator ceased investigations against Coinbase, Robinhood, Ripple, Kraken, ConsenSys, Cumberland, Uniswap, and Nova Labs.
