Ripple Co-Founder Transfers $30 Million in XRP Ahead of All-Time High
On July 17, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen transferred XRP worth $30 million to the exchange Coinbase, reports The Block. The following day, the token reached a new all-time high of $3.65.
According to XRPScan, since the beginning of 2025, Larsen has sent XRP worth $344 million to exchanges and external wallets. It remains unclear whether any of these assets were sold.

Current data indicates that the Ripple co-founder holds approximately 2.6 billion XRP, valued at over $8.5 billion at the current rate. Forbes estimates Larsen’s net worth at $9.7 billion, which is $6.5 billion more than in 2024.
XRP Reaches New ATH
Larsen’s transfers coincided with a nearly 6% rise in XRP over the past day, according to CoinGecko. On July 18, the altcoin surpassed its previous all-time high of $3.4, set in 2018.
At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $3.43.

The rise of Ripple’s token began amid a general upswing in the crypto market. Its market capitalization surpassed the $4 trillion mark for the first time. The rally was spurred by news that the US had approved three bills:
- CLARITY Act — concerning the structure of the digital asset sector;
- Anti-CBDC — against the issuance of central bank digital currency;
- GENIUS Act — regarding the regulation of stablecoins.
XRP became the third-largest crypto asset by market value, surpassing USDT. Currently, the altcoin’s market capitalization stands at $202 billion, while the “stablecoin” is valued at $160 billion.

“I Want to Cry”
Dave Portnoy, creator of the sports media platform Barstool Sports, was dismayed to have sold his XRP just two weeks before its ATH. He revealed that he disposed of the assets at $2.4 following advice from a familiar expert.

“I could have made millions, now I just want to cry. I no longer have XRP,” he lamented in a video on X.
In February, Portnoy purchased fake LIBRA for $170,000.
Back in March 25, Ripple agreed to withdraw its counter-appeal against the US Securities and Exchange Commission amid the conclusion of the litigation.
