Robinhood’s Twitter account hacked to promote a scam token

Unknown individuals hacked the Robinhood online broker’s Twitter account to promote a fraudulent RBH token on the BNB Chain. The damage did not exceed $8,000, according to The Block.

The token could be purchased at $0.0005. According to GeckoTerminal, its market price soon jumped to $0.003821.

“We are aware of unauthorized posts from Robinhood profiles on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, which were removed within minutes. We believe the source of the incident was a third-party vendor”, — Robinhood.

Users flagged Binance-linked transactions by the attackers.

The platform’s chief executive, Changpeng Zhao, said the account had been locked by security personnel for further investigation.

In December, hackers hacked Kevin O’Leary’s Twitter account to run a Bitcoin giveaway scam.
