Roger Ver announced a Bitcoin Cash fork in November
Roger Ver, founder of Bitcoin.com and one of the leading advocates of Bitcoin Cash, said there would be a forthcoming fork of the blockchain. He said that on November 15 Bitcoin ABC and its lead developer Amori Seshe will part ways with Bitcoin Cash.
Bitcoin ABC and @deadalnix have announced that they are forking away from #BitcoinCash on Nov 15th.
We wish them good luck with their new coin and thank them for the free airdrop to all BCH holders.— Roger Ver (@rogerkver) September 1, 2020
Ver’s statement came in response to Bitcoin ABC pushing the latest release 0.22.1, which activates the Coinbase Rule on November 15. This feature is one of the network updates that will require miners to divert 8% of their rewards to the BCH development fund.
According to Cointelegraph, Ver’s message effectively suggests that the split Bitcoin Cash community will be fighting over which fork gains the right to the Bitcoin Cash brand — Bitcoin ABC or the new competitor Bitcoin Cash Node (BCHN).
Some Bitcoin Cash users believe the fork will help cleanse the network of rivals; others are wary. In the comments on Ver’s post, a Twitter user noted that the split could knock BCH out of the top ten cryptocurrencies.
You do realize that a split might kick $BCH out of top 10 right?
BCH doesn’t deserve to be driven without vision (via BCHN/BU).
Why not give a chance for governance & structure with @Bitcoin_ABC ?— aiya`dt (@aiyadt) September 1, 2020
Earlier, Amori Seshe announced the Bitcoin ABC network update in August. At that time, a BCHN supporter using the pseudonym Nilac The Grim said that Seshe should leave the ranks of Bitcoin Cash developers.
