Rosseti reports increased activity of 'black' miners amid Bitcoin price rise

Representatives of Rosseti said there has been increased activity by ‘black’ miners amid a rise in the Bitcoin price, writes Prime.

The company noted that the activity of illegal mining farms leads to losses for energy companies, and “creates a threat of grid overloads and risks of accidents.”

Rosseti will continue to fight illegal miners:

“There is extensive experience in identifying and suppressing their activities. Materials are forwarded to law enforcement authorities. Criminal cases are opened under articles that provide for punishment with a real prison term,” the company said.

Since 2017, the total damage from the activities of illegal mining farms identified by Rosseti has been estimated at more than 718 million rubles.

In October, Rosseti reported damages of 600 million rubles.
