
Russia Drops Out of Bitcoin Hashrate Top Three
The United States retained the lead share of the hashrate of the leading cryptocurrency at 37.8%. China rose to second place and displaced Russia from the top three, according to данным Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF).
In July 2021, amid the mining ban in China, the United States took the lead in the share of Bitcoin’s computing power. Kazakhstan and Russia followed in the rankings.
According to the updated CCAF mining map, researchers had already recorded a substantial return of hashrate to the network from China in September. As of January 2022, the country’s relative share reached 21.1%. Kazakhstan accounted for 13.2%, Russia 4.7%. Canada overtook the latter (6.5%).

As of December, among US regions by Bitcoin network hashrate, Georgia led, accounting for 30.8% of the country\’s total.

New York’s share stood at 9.8%. In April, the state’s lower house passed a bill on two-year restrictions on mining.
Riot Blockchain and Marathon Digital Holdings are deploying large-scale mining infrastructure projects in Texas — with capacities of 1 GW and 300 MW respectively.
In May, Argo Blockchain launched the first phase of a data center (200 MW) in Dickens County. The project potentially has access to 600 MW.
