Russian court fines TikTok 2.6 million rubles in the wake of Twitter
A Moscow Tagansky District Court fined TikTok 2.6 million rubles for refusing to remove information urging minors to participate in an unauthorised protest in Moscow.
As Roskomnadzor said, TikTok was found guilty under the same article as Twitter earlier — “violation of the procedure for restricting access to information, access to which is restricted in accordance with the information legislation of the Russian Federation.”
The court was also due to hear on 6 April similar protocols concerning Telegram, but the hearing перенесли на 12 апреля.
Earlier, Twitter was fined three times, totalling 8,9 млн рублей. The protocols concerning postings of information that should be restricted in Russia were also issued to Facebook and Google. Their cases will be heard on 4 May.
