Russian finance ministry confirms date for drafting bill to regulate the Bitcoin market

Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev said that a bill regulating the crypto industry would be prepared by February 18. ТАСС.

“Of course, if the government has tasked us, we cannot refrain from drafting it,” he said.

Moiseev also described the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development as reasonable, which proposed allowing mining in regions with a stable surplus of generation capacity.

Earlier, after the government backed the concept proposed by the Finance Ministry for regulating the cryptocurrency industry, the ministry and the Central Bank were tasked to submit the corresponding bill by February 18.

According to sources, the central bank and the Finance Ministry have not yet been able to reach a consensus on regulating the sector. The Central Bank opposes the legalization of cryptocurrencies and their mining.
