Russian-linked hackers breach the U.S. Republican National Committee's systems

The hacker group Cozy Bear, believed to be tied to Russia’s security services, breached the computer systems of the U.S. Republican National Committee. Bloomberg reports, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to the report, the attackers targeted the Republicans through software from the provider Synnex last week. The party itself did not confirm the breach.

The Russian embassy reacted to the claims of ties between the hackers and Russian security services, “decisively rejecting such allegations”.

Cozy Bear had previously been implicated in another hacking scandal — researchers said it was involved in the attack on the Democratic National Committee.

Cozy Bear has also often been blamed for the SolarWinds attack, which affected numerous U.S. agencies and companies.
