The U.S. government is waging war on the crypto industry and trying to take Bitcoin under control. This was stated by OpenAI chief and Worldcoin co-founder Sam Altman on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Forbes reports.
“I am thrilled by Bitcoin. The idea of a world currency not under the control of any government is a supremely logical and important step in technological development,” he noted.
Altman is concerned about how far governments may go in matters of oversight. He is firmly opposed to national digital currencies (CBDC).
Earlier in the current U.S. presidential race, Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. called Bitcoin “the currency of freedom” and pledged to defend the asset should he be elected president.
The politician also criticized American regulators for the “war on cryptocurrencies” and spoke out against CBDC.
As reported in September, WSJ sources reported that OpenAI was in talks with investors regarding a potential sale of shares and a valuation of $80-90 billion.
