Sam Bankman-Fried Moved to Transit Center Following Tucker Carlson Interview

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has been transferred to a federal transit center in Oklahoma City.

According to WSJ, his relocation began on March 26 following an unauthorized video interview with Tucker Carlson from a Brooklyn prison.

In conversation with the journalist, SBF stated that he believes his sentence is a mistake. He claims that FTX could now have “$100 billion in assets against $15 billion in liabilities” if not for the collapse.

The interview likely influenced the decision to transfer him. It was broadcast as part of the Bankman-Fried family’s efforts to seek a reduced sentence.

The relocation of SBF is related to the final adjustment of his place of incarceration. He is currently in a transit prison, which serves as an intermediate stage before inmates are sent to permanent correctional facilities.

The former FTX head will await assignment to a main prison, presumably in California, near his parents’ home. His release date is scheduled for November 17, 2044.

Back in February 20, Bankman-Fried again claimed that at the time of the collapse, the exchange was solvent but illiquid. He also appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump for a pardon.
