Saratov traffic police inspector to stand trial for Bitcoin mining at work

Staff of the Saratov traffic police found a crypto mining farm in the department’s technical room after receiving a high electricity bill. The Telegram channel Baza reports.

According to available data, the farm belonged to Captain Sergei Tokarev of the GIBDD and operated from December 2020 to July 2021.

During the search, the inspectors found two ASIC miners, a Wi-Fi router and three power supplies. The preliminary loss from mining amounted to 231,000 rubles.

An investigation has been opened against the captain for exceeding his official powers; investigators are identifying his possible accomplices. After questioning the suspect, he will be dismissed from the police.

In February, the head of the Chelyabinsk Directorate of Communications was accused of mining at the workplace.
