Sber conducts Russia’s first smart-contract transaction

On Sber’s blockchain platform, the first in Russia transaction providing a bank guarantee via a smart contract took place. РБК reported, citing the company’s press service.

According to bank representatives, the client received the financial service by initiating the smart contract via a transaction from their digital wallet.

Since May 30, Sber has opened access to its DeFi platform ComUnity. It enables the infrastructure for issuing and circulating digital assets. Moreover, integration with the bank’s services provides direct access to ruble payments.

As reported in December 2022, Sber announced technology compatibility of its open blockchain platform with the Ethereum ecosystem. This enabled developers to port smart contracts and entire projects between the bank’s infrastructure and other open networks.
