Second Bitcoin exchange closes in Turkey as media report arrests.
The cryptocurrency exchange Vebitcoin announced that it would cease operations due to financial difficulties. Turkish authorities blocked the platform’s accounts, Reuters reports.
According to the agency, law enforcement authorities detained four people connected to Vebitcoin. The Financial Crimes Investigation Board initiated an investigation into Vebitcoin and its managers, according to Anadolu.
Earlier, the authorities took similar action against the Bitcoin exchange Thodex, which 22 April ceased trading allegedly because the company was handed over to a “new partner”. The prosecutor issued warrants for the arrest of 78 people, of whom 62 were detained.
