“As a nonprofit organization, we depend on your support. If you’ve been patiently waiting for Signal to start accepting cryptocurrency donations, you no longer need to hold back your generosity,” the statement said.
Support for the messenger can be provided in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Chainlink, Bitcoin Cash, and seven other coins. Users can send donations anonymously or provide an email address to receive a receipt for a tax deduction in the United States.
Earlier in January, media reported that Signal cryptocurrency payments with the MobileCoin token.
Earlier, the project expanded its user base amid changes to WhatsApp’s privacy policy. In a week, the number of downloads of the messenger rose by 4,200%.
