SkyBridge Capital and First Trust Advisors file to launch a Bitcoin ETF

Led by Anthony Scaramucci, SkyBridge Capital and advisory firm First Trust Advisors have filed an application to launch a Bitcoin ETF.

According to the the S-1 form document on the SEC site, the new product is named the First Trust SkyBridge Bitcoin ETF Trust. It is expected that First Trust Advisors will serve as the fund’s adviser, and SkyBridge Capital will be its co-manager.

The Bitcoin ETF is slated to list on NYSE Arca.

The current head of SkyBridge Capital began his financial career at Goldman Sachs in 1989. In 1996 Scaramucci founded Oscar Capital Management. In 2003 he headed Lehman Brothers’ investment division.

In 2005, the financier founded SkyBridge Capital. In 2017, Anthony Scaramucci served as the White House Director of Communications.

In addition to the SkyBridge Capital and First Trust Advisors filing, similar documents are under review by the SEC from VanEck, WisdomTree, NYDIG, Bitwise and Valkyrie Digital Assets. At the time of writing, the Commission had rejected all requests, citing among other things the potential for price manipulation.
