The story began with the hacking of the Discord server of the game development studio Uncharted NFT. 109 users were affected, and the attacker stole 150 SOL (~$6,420) and 25 tokens from the World of Solana (WOS). Among the latter were three rare NFTs from the top hundred on MoonRank.
In total, the collection comprises 2,222 unique images of female avatars. Over the last 24 hours, the average sale price stood at 3 SOL (~$128.40). The most expensive WOS token listed for sale, #1874, is valued at 123 SOL or about $5,264.
The WOS team devised a plan to recover the stolen NFTs. They contacted a development partner under the nickname CyberFrogsNFT and asked him to set the royalty on the tokens to 98% instead of the usual 5%.
“He laid a trap, and we asked our community to monitor the [Magic Eden] marketplace,” said the WOS team.
Earlier in May, an unknown hacked the Discord server of the NFT marketplace OpenSea and published a link to a phishing site.
