Solo Miner Strikes Bitcoin Block with $299 Device
On March 10, a solo miner successfully mined block #887,212 on the Bitcoin network using a home setup Bitax with a hash rate of 480 GH/s. The reward amounted to 3.15 BTC, or approximately $250,000.

According to CKPool administrator Con Kolivas, the odds of calculating a block with such power are one in a million—on average, it would take 3,500 years of work.
The user employed six Bitax devices from D-Central Technologies for mining, with a combined hash rate of ~3.3 TH/s. The “winner” was one of the Ultra model setups, which uses an ASIC chip for Bitmain’s Antminer S19XP.

More modern and powerful versions—Bitax Gamma and Supra—are built on the latest generation Antminer S21 chip.
According to the website of equipment seller Altair, the devices cost between $169 and $299 in the United States.
Kolivas noted that connecting multiple miners increases the chances of success. In his view, the overall computational power plays a crucial role in this case.
Kolivas highlighted that CKPool users have mined 297 solo Bitcoin blocks to date.
Back in July 2024, a Bitax device achieved this feat for the first time.
