Sophia said that the purchased work “was inspiring on many levels” and pledged to explain its meaning soon.

Another 30 works created by the robot in collaboration with Bonaceto were put up for auction. Their sale prices ranged from $2,500 to $3,000.

As of this writing, the most expensive NFT remains Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days by digital artist Michael Winkelmann (Beeple), sold for $69.3 million in Ethereum.

The buyer became CEO of Portkey Technologies and co-founder of the cryptocurrency ATM provider Bitaccess, Vignesh Sundaresan.

Winkelmann converted a record revenue ($53 million after fees and taxes) from cryptocurrency into U.S. dollars, citing concerns about Ethereum volatility.
