The well-known coffeehouse chain Starbucks has begun using a blockchain solution from Microsoft that allows customers in the United States to trace the origin of their coffee.

According to Bloomberg, the origin and roasting location of coffee beans can be traced using a special code on coffee packs.

Farmers will receive a separate code. With it, they will be able to track their produce.

The new blockchain-based tool from Microsoft is aimed at attracting a younger audience.

Earlier, it was announced that Starbucks, in partnership with Microsoft, would give customers access to information about the coffee in the pack they bought.

In 2020, the cryptocurrency platform Bakkt began testing the Bakkt Cash option in the Starbucks app.
