StarkNet upgrade to boost network throughput tenfold
In the community Ethereum layer-2 network StarkNet began voting on a planned update named Quantum Leap, which will increase throughput tenfold.
The StarkNet alpha V0.12.0 version has already been deployed on the Goerli testnet.
Developers achieved a boost in transaction-processing speed in partnership with the LambdaClass project. They implemented improvements to the sequencer mechanism and the block execution logic in the Rust programming language. For StarkNet, the native language is Cairo.
The team also integrated LambdaClass’s smart-contract compiler into the network to improve processing efficiency.
Other updates in version V0.12.0 include removing the pending status for transactions and introducing a feature to easily retrieve the hashes of past blocks.
“Looking ahead, StarkNet’s overarching vision is to achieve substantial scalability both in speed and cost. The next priority on the agenda is a sharp reduction in operating costs,” the team said.
In the upcoming V0.12.1 release, developers plan to enable inclusion of failed transactions in blocks.
As reported, analyst Colin Wu saw signs in StarkNet’s roadmap of preparation for an airdrop of a utility token in 2024.
