The Mysten Labs startup, founded by former Meta engineers, has introduced the “permanent testnet” of Sui Network. The test network will continue operating after the mainnet launch, and data stored there will not be erased after each software update.
?Long-running. Permissionless. Decentralized.

In November 2022, the Sui team launched the first testnet Wave 1. In January 2023, to test the tokenomics mechanisms at the core of Mysten Labs, implemented the second iteration of the debugging blockchain.
The project’s mainnet launch was planned for Q2 2023.
❔When is Sui Mainnet launching?
?Sui Mainnet will launch in Q2 of this year. We’ll share more information as soon as possible.

According to a statement, the new testnet contains the core primitives on which decentralized application development on Sui Network is based. In particular, community members gained access to the Programmable Transaction Blocks (Programmable Transaction Blocks), which underlie all network operations.
Mysten Labs also emphasised that validators meeting the team’s requirements will be able to connect to the testnet.
In December 2022, the Sui Foundation disclosed details of the distribution of native tokens after the mainnet launch. More than 50% of the issuance will be allocated to the project’s development.
